That’s a Whole Lotta Love
Justification is a fickle endeavor. When we cut in front of someone on the highway, there's a good reason. When someone else does it to us, they're just being a [insert your preferred insult here]. Yet we are challenged to love our neighbors as ourselves. In this sermon Fr. Garrett examines a classic story of human capacity for employing double standards (Matthew 18:21-35), depending on whether the actions are our own or someone else's. It is easier to be gracious toward ourselves because we favor our own interests. It is harder to do the same toward another because we often don't know what's going on inside of them (and sometimes don't care).
