Acceptance of Mass Shootings
as the Price of Freedom
is Not a Christian Response
In this week's sermon, Fr. Garrett pushes back strongly against the attitude that there's nothing ordinary individuals can do in the face of repetitive gun violence, as well as the preference of some that issues which cross into the political arena should not be talked about in church. Our God gives us the gift of life and insists that we have reverence for the lives of others. This starts with our personal words and actions but extends to our relationships in community and the laws which govern us as a society. In his conclusion, Fr. Garrett offers this specific list of actions you can take as expressions of faith and conscience in opposition to the abhorrent stealing of life that is our epidemic of gun violence.
